Music Gadgets iBloggie!

With so many blogs on the Internet, some of them related to music gadgets, one would wonder why this one. Well, I am not music expert neither promoter of any particular company or product. I just have a simple need which I believe is common to large enough audience to share thoughts and solutions on this blog.

While I’m not a music expert, I like music. But I am not ready to buy entire album just for one song I want. I am not ready to download songs from any source or even share MP3s with friends as I strongly believe that artists should get royalty for their nice work. This leaves me with the option to purchase individual tracks from numerous vendors such as Apple’s iTunes Store. Yahoo’s Music or Napster, just to name a few. At the same time I cannot afford to buy all music tracks I’d like to have. So the option may be the radio, satelite radio, or the internet radio.

I also want to take my digital music with me wherever I go. I do not want to pay for this service again, other than for digital player itself. I want the option to play it indoors, outdoots and/or in my car. And yes, I’d like to get lyrics and possibly artist information and album information.

In addition I’d like to play my music collection throughout my entire house, selectively in any room I want and not only on the computer. And it better be decent sound quality. Oh, and the last but not the least, I do not want any additional wires in my home.

So I started buying music gadgets that I thougth I need, and almost always found few things that were just not right or complete. My collection now includes PC, MAC, iPOD nano, two XM radio receivers, radio kits for XM radio, FM transmitters, AE wireless Internet radio, shaw digital terminal with few music channels, few audio receivers, wired and wireless home network, apple’s airport express, and who knows what else. And even today I do not have simple and elegant solution that I was looking for.

So this blog is about my experience with some of the gadgets I got, including the gadgets I am reviewing at the moment. Hopefully it will help other people with similar problems, and more importantly get discussion going on about available music gadgets that I missed but could meet the need of music enthusiasts like me.

Happy iBlogging.
